Aimé Leon Dore Porsche Runway Ready Restorations
Posted August 14, 2023

Teddy Santis, founder and creative director of New York-based fashion and lifestyle brand, Aimé Leon Dore, draws inspiration from his experiences growing up in Queens and Greece during the 1990s. Among the most inspiring elements to Santis has been the legendary Porsche 911. This passion has come to life with three collaborations between Aimé Leon Dore and Porsche. A partnership that shares similar values, as both Porsche and Aimé Leon Dore hold design and craftmanship in the highest regard. In 2020 ALD X Porsche restored a 911 Carrera (Type 4), in 2021 they collaborated on a 911 Super Carrera, and this year we saw the bespoke 1960 Porsche 356 B. All three of these restorations bring Santis’ strong focus on simple, powerful design to these classic Porsche models.

The 2020 collaboration 911 Carrera (Type 4) began with months of primary design research with Santis visiting both the Porsche Museum and 911 assembly line in Stuttgart. All of the research is evident when you open the doors of the restoration to see the fully custom interior. Taking a nod from the Aimé Leon Dore Fall/Winter 2020 collection, featuring the same materials – Schott sunflower leather and Loro Pinana houndstooth. To take the interior restoration a step further, it boasts a Schott leather trunk with Loro accents. As for the exterior, it’s painted the same shade of white as the ALD flagship store located in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. The collaboration made its debut at the ALD runway show at New York Fashion week and was then displayed at the Jeffery Deitch gallery in New York.

For the 2021 collaboration between Porsche and ALD, Santis looked to his family roots and values. This inspiration came from his childhood spend on the Greek Islands and the unique beauty of things that get better with age and wear in that environment. Santis’ passion for the brand comes through in every element of the 911 Super Carrera. From the unique combinations of materials and colors of the interior, using Persian carpets as floor mats and into the doors to the classic Olive exterior with auxiliary lights on the bonnet.

The latest collaboration between the two brands brings a contemporary touch to the 1960 356 B. Starting with the Midnight Blue exterior and hand painted gold leaf ALD crest on the left fender. Three specially designed grill badges of clubs and motorsport events are a nod to the past. The interior design puts a focus on combination of style and comfort, from the steering wheel of a 356 Carrera 2 to the refined details of the Midnight Blue leather seats with on tone stitching and center section tartan patterns. This extraordinary restoration made its premier in May at the reopening of the ALD flagship store in New York City.

All three Porsche X Aimé Leon Dore models will be present together for the first time at Rennsport Reunion 7. Enthusiasts can see all the details of these runway-ready restorations outside Porschehaus only at Rennsport.
